Can Canada regain international respect? It depends on how we vote next month.

International respect is essential for any country that wants to be a player on the world stage. Some nations gain that respect with military might, Some nations gain that respect with trade clout.

Nations like Canada have to gain international respect through solid, strong and smart diplomacy and leadership. Under Justin Trudeau we have had none of that. Trudeau is turning Canada into an international laughingstock and we will all pay the price for this if the electorate does not choose to fire this buffoon next month.

Time Magazine of the USA broke the story of Justin Trudeau’s blackface follies yesterday. Since then we have found that it is something of a pattern for Justin to paint himself black.

Today pretty much every major news outlet on earth along with every commentator and night time talk show host is taking about the ridiculous man who Canada calls their Prime Minister.

The stories seem to have no end and they keep emerging as more incidents pop up.

Canada has lost a lot of face on the world stage under Trudeau’s comical leadership this last four years. This weeks incident is nothing less than a catastrophe

People around the world can be very understanding.

Every democratic nation has elected a dud now and then. It can be forgiven.

What can’t and wont be forgiven is if Canada re-elects its dud!

Can you imagine Trudeau representing us in India for the next four years? The Middle East? Africa?

Nobody can take Justin Trudeau seriously and if we put him back in power for four more years, nobody will take Canada seriously either.

We have a chance just over a month from now to redeem ourselves by firing Justin Trudeau at the polls.

We had better not blow it or we truly won’t deserve the world respect that we need.

A pollster tells us what he really thinks.

People are losing faith in polls and pollsters and its little wonder when you look at folks such as John V. Corbett.

In what was an outright vile tweet today, Corbett said he wished that the late Barbara Frum had died childless. I am presuming he has a beef with one of Ms. Frum’s children who have earned some profile and reputation. What a way to express himself towards them.

Vulgar, thoughtless tweets are hardly rare on twitter. What has to be kept in mind though is that Mr. Corbett is a pollster who the Toronto Star appears to use rather regularly.

In looking at the website for Corbett Communications, it is not hard to see the strong bias Corbett holds as a series of almost obsessive anti-conservative press releases are listed.

Pollster bias is hardly a new thing but John Corbett’s bias is beyond the pale and his repugnant tweet certainly exposed it.

The internet is forever so I thought it best that we document this online.

That way when one sees any polls from John Corbett Communications in Toronto Ontario they know what sort of biased pap this man produces.

It says quite a lot about the Toronto Star and the polling companies who choose to use John V. Corbett’s services as well.

Pretty hard to take anything released by this guy seriously.

In light of his tweet, he has some very serious issues.

What human rights are being violated in Alberta?

Amnesty International used to be a respected organization worldwide. They used to target dictatorships where human rights were violated. Torture, imprisonment without trial, executions, infringements on free speech etc. were highlighted and exposed by Amnesty International for the world to see and condemn.

In light of Amnesty International’s absurd condemnation of Jason Kenney’s actions to protect Alberta industries, Amnesty International has demonstrated quite clearly that they have sadly degraded into just another extreme left group who has lost touch completely with their initial mandate.

The “war room” was a campaign promise made by Kenney and the left is furious that he dared to actually follow through with it. Alberta’s energy industry has been suffering under a coordinated attack from domestic and international groups who use our own court system along with a constant barrage of misinformation about our industries. These efforts to stunt Alberta’s growth have been successful as our resources are becoming increasingly landlocked while other nations enjoy fossil fuel production booms. We needed to organize to counter this and Kenney is doing just that.

The “war room” will counter misinformation as it surfaces and will work to ensure that Alberta’s interests are represented and defended in the seemingly endless legal battles.

While it is arguable as to whether or not this “war room” concept will be effective, it is without doubt that Rachel Notley’s policy of passive appeasement of energy opponents for four years was an abject failure. It will be hard to do worse than her on this file so there is little to be lost with the “war room” approach.

So what human rights are being violated with this war room effort?

Absolutely none.

Speech and assembly are as protected and free as ever. Our courts haven’t changed. No new laws have been created. No new police forces are on the move.

It is simply absurd and ridiculous that in having a government working to defend our local industries that we are accused of violating human rights.

The ridiculous actions of Amnesty International and the cranks who support them in their vapid accusations are undercutting the impact of real human rights violations that are actually happening around the world. This increasing derangement against a democratically elected majority government in a free country is doing a disservice to all the work that past human rights advocates have fought for.

Love or hate Kenney, he is violating no human rights in Alberta and this bullshit needs to be called out.

Unfortunately, we can look forward to accusations against Kenney becoming more shrill and absurd as he pursues the mandate that Albertans gave him.

Hell hath no fury like that of a socialist scorned (by the electorate).

Is it my body or not?

Hypocrisy abounds among leftist circles.

One of the most egregious double standards we are seeing from the warriors of socialism is their selective support for the sovereignty of an individual’s own body.

“My body my choice!” is the simple but effective rallying call for pro-choice activists.

They rightly make the case that neither the state nor the church has the authority to tell a person what they may or may not choose to do with their bodies, at least they do in the case of a pregnancy.

The ultimate form of private property is the body of the individual, or at least it should be.

If it is an immutable right for a person to have a ball of cells (sanitized term for fetus) surgically removed upon the whim of the individual, why does this right not apply to the rest of the cells that compose of one’s body?

What I am getting at is our blood, sperm, plasma and organs.

Who the hell are you to tell me that I can’t negotiate a price and sell a portion of my body or something that my body produces?

Canada’s ideologically rigid health care system has made it illegal for us to choose what we may or may not do with our bodies and we all are paying the price for it.

Let’s start with plasma. Canada is chronically short of it thus we buy 80% of our blood products from the USA where they pay donors!

Step back a moment and look at just how profoundly stupid this is. Some folks feel it is morally wrong to pay for blood or plasma so they ban the payment for it here. We then buy it at a premium from American suppliers who have a surplus because they pay their donors.

What a moronic, ideological hill to die on. Are there any fewer paid donors due to this? No! Is any real medical purpose being served by this? No! Is there any rational reason to continue this practice? NO!

Let’s quit being damned idiots and start paying plasma and blood donors in Canada. The left loves to decry any time that Canadian dollars go to foreign corporate interests, well dammit they should be furious that scarce health care dollars are going to American companies for something we can produce for less right here at home. We just need to pay the bloody donors as they do all over the world.

Look, in an ideal world we would fill all of our donation needs through altruistic donors. Realistically, it just ain’t happening and it wont.

We shouldn’t stop with blood products. Sperm and eggs are in low supply for fertility treatments in Canada due to our foolish laws. Open it up and pay donors.

Further from there, we should allow for payment for living organ donations. Yes this makes people squeemish but get over it! We have thousands of Canadians languishing on waiting lists waiting for organ donations. Many of these transplants can be done with living donors but if we really want to draw these donors out we are going to have to start paying them.

If you don’t like it, don’t sell your blood, sperm, plasma, organs etc. Nobody is forcing you and spare me dystopian visions of a world where people are suddenly forced to donate. Proper protection of private property means that nothing ever gets sold through coercion or without a sales agreement between parties. There is no reason that these laws can’t or won’t apply to our own bodies.

Canada’s health system is a system of waiting and many people are dying on those waiting lists. Socialized medicine=rationed medicine. Our organ/blood etc shortages are only one symptom of a troubled, ideologically rigid system which forces long waits for treatment upon us. We need many reforms to address these wait times. Paying donors should be a no brainer to begin with though.

It’s my body. The state has no right to tell me what I may choose to do with it.
Its time that the state stopped doing so.

If in the Liberal’s shoes, would you put Trudeau in the debates?

Let’s not beat around the bush here.

Canada is currently enjoying the reign of the dumbest Prime Minister in our country’s history.

Justin may have the hair and he has the family name, but he simply doesn’t have a hell of a lot between his ears. Four years of his follies have established that pretty clearly.

Now put yourself in the shoes of a Liberal strategist. Would you really want to give Trudeau any more chances to screw up than you have to?

Things are looking pretty good. Jagmeet Singh has proven to be only a little brighter than Trudeau and Andrew Scheer couldn’t inspire a circle jerk at a sex addicts convention.

Despite the scandals, it looks like all the Liberals have to do for the next 38 days or so is to hold the course and not make any profound mistakes.

The biggest liability the Liberals have is when Justin tries to think for himself and goes off script. We saw how dearly he suffered when he tried to explain how his family drinks from water box sort of thingies and his antics when he chewed through his straps while in India will be comedy gold for decades.

The Liberals will coach Justin long and hard with hopes that he manages to get through the one and only debate that he will be participating in.

Justin will simply have to regurgitate his rehearsed lines for a couple hours while Rosie blows kisses at him from behind her podium.

There simply is no way they could put Trudeau in any other debates. There aren’t enough weeks remaining to train him for it and they will never find another panel more Liberal friendly. They have everything to lose and little to gain by putting the Little Potato on the microphone any more often than they have to.

It is frustrating and annoying to see the Prime Minister avoiding open engagement with Canadians during the very period that he should be speaking the most, but one can understand why his handlers feel it must be so,

Our Imbecile in Chief simply needs to look pretty and to avoid trying to think for himself until election day.

The worst part of all is that this strategy may very well work. Justin may be an idiot but his strategists aren’t.

Just imagine what the Little Potato could do with four more years to use parliament as his personal playpen.

Yes! Calgary city hall’s crisis is urgent!

After weeks away from city hall, the Mayor and council couldn’t even make it an hour back in session before the entire chamber devolved into a bitch match with insults, threats of ejection and demands for apologies.

Years of terrible, self-centered leadership from Naheed Nenshi as Mayor has created the most toxic and dysfunctional city hall that Calgary has ever seen.

Business crushing tax increases as high as 400% last spring finally managed to force the Mayor and council to admit that they had a crisis on their hands. With weeks of fighting and disparate plans, they dumped an order upon city administration to cut $60 million in spending (a drop in the bucket). City administration of course cut in the most painful of front line spots in hopes of souring Calgarians on any future spending restraint.

Meanwhile businesses continue to fail and downtown languishes with nearly 30% commercial vacancy.

Having kicked the fiscal can down the road, the Mayor and council then focused on pressing issues such as increasing the network of underutilized bike tracks in downtown and public art.

Meanwhile businesses continue to fail and downtown languishes with nearly 30% commercial vacancy.

Since city administration has proven itself to be utterly incapable of reasonably reigning in the out of control spending of city hall, Jeromy Farkas proposed a common sense solution of creating a “blue book” system which could help target areas of spending waste. This would be a listing of all city expenditures over $10,000 which the public would be able to access. Taxpayers will be far more effective at identifying spending waste than city administrators who are only concerned with feathering their own nests while not rocking the boat.

As usual, the Mayor and his collection of city council mushrooms dog piled on Farkas. They pointed to some gormless, weak motion that Diane Colley-Urquhart tabled last spring which they intend to talk about at the end of the month. In light of this, they voted down Jeromy’s motion.

Meanwhile businesses continue to fail and downtown languishes with nearly 30% commercial vacancy.

High spending city hall bloat supporters Shane Keating and Ward Sutherland chimed in of course.

Sutherland hates how Jeromy’s relentless pursuit of city reform exposes Ward’s goal of riding out a simple quiet few terms in office in order to collect a generous pension. Sutherland attacks Farkas at every possible opportunity. Parasites always lash out when one tries to dislodge them.

Keating yelped on about how categorizing all that spending would actually be wasteful in itself. This would really not take much effort folks. This is simply a cowardly dodge by a freespending councilor who doesn’t want the accumulated city waste exposed while he was on watch

There is a fiscal crisis in the city of Calgary. The Mayor and council dedicate the majority of their time pursuing vanity projects and embroiled in petty fights with each other while pretending that problems aren’t happening.

It will take nothing less than a flush of at least 80% of council in the next election to fix this mess.

Let’s just hope that the core of city businesses is still salvageable by that point.

Why not make minimum wage $100 per hour?

In light of the latest campaign promise from NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, the question above is not unreasonable.

Today Singh announced that he will raise the minimum wage in Canada to a “living wage” which is quoted as being $21,75 per hour in Toronto right now.

If the solution to people living in poverty is so simple as forcing businesses to pay higher wages, why on earth would anybody stop at $21,75 per hour? Why not $50? Or $100 per hour?

Seriously, if you are going to completely ignore the impact that massive minimum wage hikes would have on employment, the cost of living and the economy in general, you may as well shoot for the moon and try to make everybody rich right?

The Bank of Canada reported that as many as 60,000 jobs may be lost due to minimum wage hikes at the $15 level. What do you think will happen at $21,75? How many jobs will be lost? How much higher will the cost of everything go? How much more investment will be driven from Canada?

Everybody wants somebody else to pay everybody else more money. Alas, life and economics just don’t work that way.

The bottom line is that if raising minimum wage by massive amounts was actually an effective policy to fight poverty, every developed country in the world would be doing it already.

Just as rent controls actually lead to less affordable housing and just as printing money to pay the debt only leads to hyperinflation, raising minimum wages have a negligible impact on poverty at best.

That won’t stop myopic dingdongs such as Singh from trying though.

Normally we can dismiss the ramblings of an economic illiterate such as Jagmeet Singh but we are in a singular situation with the way this upcoming federal election may play out.

Jagmeet Singh may hold the balance of power in a minority Trudeau government!

Rational people wouldn’t bring in a $21.75 minimum wage but we won’t be dealing with rational people.

Elizabeth May could be part of a coalition too.

Just imagine the damage that triad of twits could cause!

A $15 wage hike has harmed businesses in the retail and hospitality industries. A hike to $21.75 will decimate it.

If indeed we go down this road, we may as well go full bore.

Raise the wage to $100 per hour. Lets do a service to the world to show just how idiotic this approach to the economy is.

If Trudeau, Singh and May are running the nation, we will have little to lose anyway.

Why is government still involved in marriage?

Seriously. Think about this. Why on earth do we need the government to sanction and regulate what is an intimate agreement between two consenting adults?

There is nothing that a government sanctioned marriage provides that simple contract law can’t.

There are already legal means for couples to deal with the dispersal of assets upon the death or separation of common law couples (marriages without the state involved). There are already legal formulas to deal with child support.

If a person has religious or cultural convictions that call for marital sanction from a religious or cultural leader, then what is stopping them from getting that sanction if the state isn’t involved?

If people are consenting adults (those two words are critical), who cares what sort of formalized relationship they may choose to have? What business is it of yours or mine to tell consenting adults what they may or may not do in relationships or what relationship statuses are valid or not? We are using the state as a proxy to impose restrictions on the actions of consenting adults and its utterly pointless.

I don’t care if ten consenting adults want to declare themselves as married in one way or another and neither should you. If you don’t like it, don’t participate in it. It really is that damn simple.

If you feel that your marriage is somehow less valid if it doesn’t have the stamp of approval from the government, the problem is yours.

Marital definitions only become a problem when the state imposes them. Get the state out and the problems are gone. Sure there are some individuals who will be critical of the relationships of others. That is their right but they will no longer have the means to intervene in those relationships.

There are many areas where we could cut government and it wouldn’t adversely impact our lives. Often the reduction of the state will make our lives better.

When it comes to marriage it should be a no brainer. Get the damn state out of it. When you look at objectively, our system which requires people to essentially have to ask the state for permission to marry is outright medieval.

Let’s work to put the state management of marriages into the dark ages where it belongs.
